In the story found in John 9, Jesus sent a blind man to wash in the pool of Siloam, where he received healing and restored vision. It is from this story that we take our name and mission statement:
"WORSHIPPING JESUS - RECEIVING, HEALING, SENDING."
As part of our acts of worship, we receive those Jesus receives and we are received into the Body of Christ we seek personal healing and share the healing presence of Jesus with others; and we send and are sent into the world as followers of Jesus.
This process of worship is not a chronological sequence that we move through once, but one that is hopefully repeated often as we participate in the life of the Body of Christ. We receive new vision, often making us more aware of our need for Jesus. We also continue to share with others the new life we are continually discovering in Jesus.
A scripture that has been a long-time challenge and inspiration to me is EPHESIANS 4:25 "SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE, WE WILL GROW UP INTO CHRIST." I suppose if there is a simple goal that I have for our life together at Siloam Fellowship, it is that we each continue to grow up in Jesus as we integrate love and truth is all our relationships. At different times in our lives, we may seem to need more of one element than the other; but I am convinced that we can never actually have either love or truth alone and be healthy.
Welcome to Siloam Fellowship. We will do our best to accept you where you are, encourage you to become all that Jesus wants you to be, and support you in doing the things Jesus calls you to do!
Sincerely,
Pastor Conrad Showalter
